Although I have yet to actually get a bespoke suit from them, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the progression of David Schottenstein (CEO) and his company Astor & Black for a little over one year now. They have come quite far since 2005 when the company was first established and with David already being listed on INC’s 30 under 30, you gotta have respect for a true entrepreneur like him. A rare breed.
It all started a year and a half ago when I joined the made to measure club and never looked back. I had decided to have have my first suit fitted at Giorgio Armani in NYC and loved it. Bespoke suits are just not comparable to a regular suit you might get from Brookes Brothers or what have you. As my business grew and as I did, slowly but surely as a young business man I wanted to transition into wearing suits more frequently. My only problem was spending 5k dollars and up PER suit, $1700 plus for each jacket, $500 plus for EACH tie and so on. As time has passed having just a handful of custom suits wasn’t doing it for me. I found as I got older the more and more suits I needed. More sports coats, more shoes, more shirts, but being a young entrepreneur I couldn’t just keep spending my money hand over fist knowing I could be getting the same made to measure suit for significantly less money. With that said, I’ve been looking forward to doing a post about Astor & Black for quite some time now. Even with their moderate price increases over the last year or so, they are still unbeatable. The idea of spending thousands less per suit for equal or better quality is heart lifting to say the least. Growing my wardrobe has now become far less daunting! I finally reached out to them to make an appointment to be fitted and will keep you posted on how it goes. Continue scrolling below for more pictures and video.
